I have visited India, fasted for 7 days, swam with totally amazing fish amongst the coral reefs of the Andaman Islands, returned to Europe and now reside in the quite beautiful city of Prague. My life here is good, and slowly being built, but much work has to be done...

Another place of urban decay and ruin... but this time in intricate Japanese style. Hashima island (also known as Battleship Island because of its concrete shape) is just of the coast of Nagasaki in Japan. I want to go there!

Chernobyl

I've been reading a bit about Chernobyl (see the image of the reactor below)... click the image to go straight to the Wikipedia page. It's pretty fascinating, just in terms of the impact on the landscape around the area. There are only very few people allowed access to the site in theory, still working on the reactor (I think it's actually still functioning, as it was just one of a few reactors in the facility that had a meltdown). Anyway, it's completely deserted, with orange forests, and things lying about all over the place due to everyone leaving so quickly. If there ever was a vision of a future without people, then this seems to be it - the overgrown and decaying city of Pripyat.

Kind of makes sense I reckon - sacrifice speed (as a result of drag and mass), but to the advantage of less energy being required to keep it airborne and greater manoeuvrability.

First time that I've ever caught onto some new music from the BBC website... I must be getting slow in my old age! This guy is awesome, producing his music in collaboration with Thom Yorke and Flying Lotus (urrrrrgh!) - plus, he has one of the best website entry portals I've ever come across! You can check it out and listen to some of his stuff here: www.sufisays.com

Plus, in the same article on the BBC website, Mount Kimbie are mentioned. I still find it bewildering how far the dubstep scene has moved into the public eye (and parts of it adapting to fit the public). I remember (uh oh, sounding old) back in the day trying to play people dubstep and most people really not rating it. Unsurprising and amazing just to what extent that media can make people receptive to something they would otherwise perhaps not have been... Unless of course that is that they may have been, but the media was already making them focus in some direction/s that excluded these sounds. Arg, I hoep this post makes sense!

This looks promising - from the director of the acclaimed 'Machinist' that saw Christian Bale losing an incredible amount of weight to fit the part - he's clearly capable of getting the most out of the actors that he uses. Despite the average cast, including Ryan Phillipe who I'm not really a fan of; I reckon this will be one to watch. Creepy...

I take back what I said about being excited by the prospect of the new Subheim album. It has nice moments, although they last less than 30 seconds. The whole thing is shockingly cheesy, and as a result all of the sentiment that it tries to instill just comes across as tacky. 'The Veil' is the real low of the album, with maybe the worst lyrics that I've ever heard. Disappointing...

Anyone want to eat some mushrooms and go see the new Tron film in 3D at the IMAX?

I can't tell you how much I've been looking forward to this film coming out, and finally there is a trailer for it... which just looks fucking awesome! I'm so happy that Sci-fi has come back to the big screen, it hasn't been since the 60's that the movie industry was so focussed on it, with the exception of a few notable films. It seems that both Directors and more significantly, production houses and studios; are willing to take more risks since the successes of relatively low budget films with unconventional stories such as District 9. I have no idea whether the plot for Battle: Los Angeles will be compelling, but I can say this much - that it certainly looks as though it's going to be incredibly brutal. Check it out!

We've worked before as a trio in creating the piece below entitled 'Earth Too Soon', with Guy on the visuals, Henry on the poetry and the audio created by me. Apologies for the recording quality, I hope we'll be able to post a better version soon.
